I do not agree with the creation of an additional call abandonment safe harbor for telemarketers, regardless of any past business I may have done with their merchant employers. The telemarketing industry may have in the past provided a viable service; however, it no longer provides any value. The level of access to all forms of commerce in this day and age is unparalleled, meaning any consumer that should want to make contact with a merchant of any sort, can do so at any time, day or night. Although the people and companies currently employed as telemarketers will undoubtedly suffer job elimination, it would not be the first or last industry sector to fall into obsolescence. My family and I, like a multitude of others, will find a way to circumvent telemarketing, legal or technical. I will save you my lecture on the economical implications of creating an additional call abandonment safe harbor for telemarketers.
