Comments:
I oppose changes in FTC policy that would make it easier for telemarkerters to call me at home. Recorded messages of the kind proposed are not only offensive and annoying, but they also constitute a direct safety hazard as they tie up the telephone line until the message is completed. The quote established business relationship unquote phrase is bogus and should be recognized as such: anybody with whom I am obliged to subscribe for a service -- TV, telephone, utilities, mortgage, insurance, credit card -- may think they are entitled to harass me to send them more money for a new deal they have to offer, but they are wrong. The same applies to companies from whom I have placed telephone or internet orders. The FTC should be working for the citizenry, not acting as shills and facilitators for hustlers.
