I want to strongly voice my objections to ANY change which would loosen the current guidelines. The current system is NOT screening out enough unwanted calls in my opinion. I still have a message on my home answering system that basically tells anyone placing a cold-call to the number to PERMANENTLY REMOVE THIS NUMBER FROM YOUR LIST! I include charities, political organizations, companies taking surveys and even those with whom I do business. I do not want anything calls that are not a response to an inquiry that I made. If I need or want something, I go looking for it. I donate to a handful of selected charities. I cast my vote based on the issues and individual candidate's position. I read the newspaper and watch the news to form my opinions. If something is unclear, I know how to use the internet and library's resources to obtain further information. Maybe I'm something of an anomaly, but I simply do not want to be disturbed with ANY unsolicited/unwanted calls. That's why I keep the outgoing message as it is. Unfortunately, friends and relatives must listen to this message if I cannot answer the phone before it starts. Luckily they understand my position and feel it is a small price to pay. So do NOT loosen the controls/guideline! I vote to TIGHTEN them and reduce unwanted calls even more.
