I absolutely do NOT want ANY solicitors calling either my home or my cell phone. It doesn't matter whether it is a live person or a pre-recorded message. I put my number on the DO NOT CALL list for exactly that reason. I don't want to be bothered by these people. If I want the service/item they are offering, I will seek them out. They need to find another way of advertising that doesn't abuse the public. I don't need them filling up my answering machine with their messages, and I don't want to listen to them if I answer the phone. I think the overwhelming registration on the DO NOT CALL list shows that the American public feels the same way. I doubt very much if you could find any person who would say they would welcome any solicitation calls. (Except the man on TV who runs one of the telemarketing companies, and said he wouldn't mind getting the pre-recorded messages. I guess he pretty much HAD to say that. ) PLEASE DO NOT allow this change to the Telemarketing Sales Rule.
