I would never buy anything from an unknown person at the other end of the phoneline. I would never give out my creditcard information to such a person either. I would also never buy anything sight unseen. If I want to refinance my home, I'll call the institution of my choosing when that time comes. If I want an increase on my available credit line, I'll ask. For these reasons, just to name a few, I can't express how irritating it is to answer a phone when I'm busy doing other things just so that I can listen to some poor soul spewing out the same lines he's been spewing out to other people all day long. I can't imagine anyone wanting a job in telemarketing anymore than I can imagine someone wanting to receive the calls they are required to make. A number of times I've had to be rude and hang up on the caller just to get them off of my line. NO is not a word they generally understand or are willing to accept. My home is my haven. I don't appreciate in the slightest unwelcome interuptions when I'm there.
