I am strongly opposed to the FTC's proposal to give telemarketers the right to use pre-recorded messages to call consumers on the DNC list, but, only if those consumers have an existing relationship with the company. Under the proposal, the pre-recorded messages would allow the consumer to opt out via an automated entry right on the spot. This move would put the consumer on that company's DNC list from then on, even if they are a customer. However, I work long hours, and I know that my answering machine will be inundated by these messages, thus precluding me from opting out via an automated entry. Please, please, do not allow this change to take effect.
