It strikes me that you folks (FTC and telemarketers alike) just don't get it. WE DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE TELEMARKETING PHONE CALLS!!! Ever. Under any circumstances. Period. There - does that help? Over the decades, telemarketers have successfully made themselves one of the most loathed segments of our population for their dogged determination to interrupt our lives. Only when threatened with force of law did they finally stop calling people who had asked to not be called. Now we have the very organization which protects us from them bowing to political pressure from the Telemarketing industry. "Boo Hoo", they say - "We're starving out here.". Good! So here's what the FTC should do: 1) Remind the telemarketers that they now have a trimmed down list of suckers to play with. They are so much more likely to make a sale at a phone number which hasn't been black-listed. 2) Tell them to pound sand regarding being able to start calling folks on the list again. I deliberately put all my numbers on the Do Not Call list. What I meant by that was DO NOT CALL! Not even to deliver "a brief message from our sponsor"! Jim Weisz
