I understand that the FTC is considering rules that would ease do-not-call rules for companies using automated telemarketing. Please do not do anything to loosen rules against telemarketers. I recently moved, and although I have registered my new phone number, it has not yet made it onto the next quarterly do-not-call-list. In just one month, I have been inundated by telemarketers, including one from Ohio, 440-331-4613, who has called twice today and left messages on my answering machine. I want to be able to use my phone to take my own business or personal calls, without having to worry about screening for telemarketers or having my peace and quiet disturbed. The overwhelming national response to do-not-call registries should make clear that Americans do not want our privacy intruded upon further by telemarketers.
