Comments:
It is impossible to state how much the quality of our lives have improved by not having to be constantly under stress each time the phone rings and we have to get up to answer it only to find it is a telemarketer and not the important call we are waiting for. Then, to add insult to injury, we find that the important caller leaves a message because the line was busy - busied by the telemarketer and the important call is missed. Please, please, please do not allow corporate desires to overcome consumers needs for privacy and peace of mind. Telemarketers have become psychological terrorists - and the consumer really feels like a victim left exhausted and feeling defeated by their onslaught. Please do not allow this new measure to pass. Retain the 'do not call' program in its present form and do not allow pre-recorded messages to disrupt our lives. To the consumer there is no difference between a live telemarketer and a pre-recorded telemarketer - they both create untold stress, especially on older consumers. Remember we rely on you the FTC to protect consumer interests.
