I do NOT want prerecorded messages calling me, nor do I want telmarketers to contact me in any way. If I want to buy something, I will contact them! Mr. Crowe states that customers like the prerecorded calls and that the opt out rate on average is .02 percent. This is because, like myself, most of the population would rather hang up on these annoying calls than try to get on the do not call list of that particular company. This is going to be even more true of prerecorded calls. Who is going to listen to this entire message (which I'm sure you will have to do in order to GET the phone number) then call the company who will have live telemarketers answer the phone? Seems to me that these companies are trying to get the consumers to call them instead of the other way around. If so many people signed up for the government's do not call list, that should be a big wake up call for all these companies. We don't want you to call us! There are enough annoying people to deal with and things to do on a daily basis when we leave our homes. The last thing we want to deal with is more annoyance in our own home! If no telemarketers ever called me again, I would only be overjoyed!! Just a little less to deal with in my life!
