Prerecorded calls are even more of an imposition than a live person call. Even though they are currently not legal (at least not in my area), there are still MANY companies who use them. The number of prerecorded calls I receive is unacceptable and sometimes fills up my answering machine to where I cannot receive the calls I want. To make prerecorded calls legal would guarantee that friends and family wouldn't have the chance to leave me messages. Am I supposed to step out of court durng the day to erase these unwanted messages so I can receive mesages from my elderly grandmother or my children? My phone line would be virtually for use only by telemarketers -- forcing me to pay for a separate line that I'd to actually be able use! Until the telemarketers got that number! (I use a voice mail service number as my home number on all forms, including credit cards -- yet somehow they get ahold of my actual home phone number. I am not listed.) This is ridiculous. Right now I receive many calls for medical employment from many different agencies. I am an attorney. How I ended up on a medical professional list is beyond me. And there is no way to stop it. I've tried. Please do not allow prerecorded calls. Work for the people you are supposed to be working for, not the telemarketing industry. Why wasn't this issue put before the public? I just heard about it today, the last day to make our opinions known. Unacceptable!
