Please do NOT allow any businesses to use automatic dialers to pester people at home. It was hard enough to get the original prohibition in place. I am the co-chairperson of an advocacy group for people with disabilities. For many of us, it is very hard to get to the telephone. These nuisance calls are a hazard, due to the danger of falling trying to answer them while believing that it is an important call. A high percentage of these calls are hangups, as they dial many simultaneaously. Great stress ensues forolder and disabled people, who worry about who was calling! I have had automatic calls that do not release at once, so my phone was tied up and I could not call out, even when ill parents were visiting who might have had a medical emergency. Despite being on the "Do Not Call List" we still receive junk mail and faxes, including repeat ones from the same source after we have again told them not to use our number. There is no need to allow these calls. PLEASE desist from any efforts to do so, Thank you, Carolyn Schwebel, Ed.D. Co-chair, The Equalizers School Psychologist
