It should be a federal crime to put a false phone number and/or name into caller ID (which current technology seems to make easy) Number displayed should be one that can be called back, with option to remove one's number from the list for those who ignore the Do Not Call list (and for entities that don't have to observe the DNC). Failure to observe requests (through the DNC list or individual request) should be treated with the same seriousness as mail fraud - criminal as well as civil penalties. Anonymous telemarketing should be treated like home invasion, a serious crime.
