While I agree that telemarketing calls are annoying, the proposed amendments are too broad and may include simple recordings such as doctor's appointment reminders and prescription refill notices. It is also not practical for an organization to keep a signed letter on file for each telephone number that it will call. Instead, I believe we should stay on track with current "do not call list" legislature which gives the consumer the option of opting out of such calls at their request. Perhaps the amendment should instead not block all outbound pre-recorded calls but force the message to contain an option for the consumer to opt out of further calls from the organization.
