I signed up for the do not call registry to limit the number of unwanted calls from sales people and campaigns. Automated prerecorded messages are among the most annoying calls received and should be held to the rule. With the tremendous amount of third party information sharing that goes on, it's no wonder that most people screen calls daily; the racket which has emerged from nuisance calling has made the convenience of communication technology a real pain. It's as bad as all the waste that consumers receive daily in the mail which has turned that task into a chore that no one wants to deal with. The nice opt out of information sharing notices we get from billers is no better--who has the time to fill out a form or write a letter to each of them requesting that your info not be shared? It's just another way to hold the public as unwilling participants in the game of selling information--and wasting resources.
