Dear FTC: You need to understand that consumers prefer pre-recorded messages to getting contacted by a live telemarketer. No one likes to be rude and hang up on someone, and live telemarketers take advantage of our good nature. A recorded message is much better are not a problem. Your efforts to prohibit them only demonstrate that the FTC is completely disconnected from the consumers you are supposed to protect. Just continue to enforce the rules regarding the Do Not Call lists. Any telemarketer that violates DNC rules should be punished severely. Clearly, such companies will cheerfully violate a rule prohibiting pre-recorded messages as well. Sincerely, Kathy Peek
