I would like to see the rule amended to include all other retailers. I fall into the category of probably most consumers who have at one time or another read an advertisement in the newspaper regarding a particular item on sale only to discover when arriving at the store that the item is not on hand, nor will they honor the advertisement with a raincheck for when the item does come in. Therefore, my policy is that I will not purchase something else they direct me toward. Just this last week at my local public supermarket "Citrus Grove Stoneware" was offered 2/$3 (While Quantities Available); however, the stoneware was nowhere to be found. I did not enquire further. This rule should not be repealed. Further, I would like to see it strengthened in some way to make it easier for the consumer to get a raincheck or a comparable item. I think retailers count on the consumer not pursuing these options as you have to search for help and then wait for someone to respond. I suppose customer service or the check-out section might be the most logical. However, I think the retailers count on customers wanting to get out of the store as rapidly as possible and I certainly don't relish jumping through hurdles. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
