The FTC's stated mission is to prevent business practices that are anticompetitive, deceptive, or unfair to consumers. The proposed changes to the Used Car Rule are not consistent with this mission. Consumers need all the help they can get when buying a car from a dealer (I receive at least one call a day from a consumer complaining about a car purchase in Indiana), but the proposed changes do not provide them with more helpful information and are more misleading than helpful. I strongly encourage you not to go through with the proposed changes and to go back to the drawing board. The Buyer's Guide can and should be changed to provide consumers with more (accurate) information than it does now, but the proposed changes are a regression. Thank you.
