Submission Text
I represent consumers who have been swindled by dishonest car dealers. These are usually low income people with a desperate need for transportation so that they can work, get their children to child care, shop for food etc. The proposed rule removes what little protection currently exists for them. The car dealers should be required to provide any and all information that is available about the vehicle so that the buyer can make an informed decision. Additionally, in my opinion, the proposed change to the "AS IS" statement is misleading. There is recourse under state law (in my case Virginia) if the dealer violates our consumer protection law by fraudulent practices. Please protect those with the most need and the least representation in Washington from the predatory behavior of some car dealers.
