I think the penalties in this matter are not nearly sufficient. No mention is made of any monetary penalty except for possible fines for violating the consent order. The spying enabled by the software and participated in by the companies would carry severe penalties if done by an individual. But, it appears that these companies are merely being told "don't do it again" and being made to keep records that they are following the order. It does not appear that they even have to admit that they did anything wrong. That is ridiculous and shameful. Large fines should accompany these consent orders and the companies must admit wrong. Also, criminal charges should be pursued.
