Regarding Trader Joe's purchase of a closed Wild Oats building in Portland, Maine: I have resented the loss of Wild Oats since the day it was gobbled up by Whole Foods. In my opinion, the buy-out of Wild Oats should never have been permitted. Trader Joe's is not Wild Oats, but it should help by providing some competition. I shop at Whole Foods when I must because the options are very limited in the Portland area. I definitely favor the purchase of the Wild Oats store by Trader Joe's. Incidentally, I have noticed that Whole Foods may have lowered a few of its prices recently probably in anticipation of the Trader Joe's comment period. The local Whole Foods store is large, has a very wide array of products, and does a very heavy volume of business. Their large parking lot is usually filled with cars - seven days a week.
