Comments:The former Wild Oats location on Marginal Way in Portland, ME is the perfect, already available, location for Trader Joes to enter the Portland market. The store has sat empty in a neighborhood that is slowly but surely becoming a new and vibrant part of the City and we need development like that here. Already too many Mainers leave Maine to find the things we do not have up here...Trader Joes in Massachusets gets our business as do many other retail establishments that have yet to find their way "north". Please allow this sale to move forward. The presence of Whole Foods in Portland proves that Mainers are ready for healthier options...those of us who cannot afford to shop at Whole Foods however will appreciate the availability of better pricing with Trader Joes. Additionally, the fact that Trader Joes is interested in locating on the peninsula here in Portland, instead of doing the typical or easier move to the suburbs, is evidence of the integral part they will play in the continued vitality of downtown Portland.
