Comments:I am writing to express my thoughts about the pending opening of a Trader Joe's on Marginal Way in Portland, Maine. I think not only is it a very good thing, it is long overdue! We have the culture to support another whole-foods based grocer and quite frankly, we need it! Whole Foods is about the only option for someone looking for a healthier, more organic option when food shopping. I make regular pilgrimages to Massachusetts to visit Trader Joe's and I would much rather spend that money here in my home state, supporting a company that is giving jobs to local people and paying taxes in my city and state. I have a number of friends who do the same thing. Trader Joe's is the exact type of socially conscious company that the residents of Portland will embrace. Further, I think because of the different niches each store has, that the arrival of Trader Joe's will increase business for Whole Foods, not to mention fill a sizable vacancy in a prominent spot. I am so excited to have Trader Joe's coming to Maine! It cannot come soon enough. Sincerely, Tammy McMichael -- To err is human; effective mayhem requires the root password!
