Comments:I strongly support permitting Trader Joe's to acquire the former Wild Oats facility in Portland, Maine to open a Trader Joe's market in that location. We have shopped at Tradeer Joe's in Massachusetts for a number of years and have repeatedly asked them to come to Maine. Now is the chance. Our experience is that Trader Joe's has a broad selection of the food and beverage products we desire and that they are always priced very competitively. They will provide strong competition not only to the Whole Foods store located nearby, but to the large general supermarkets in the greater Portland area, including Hannaford's and Shaw's. I believe the opening of a Trader Joe's market in Portland will have a very positive effect upon competition for grocery products in this part of Maine and cannot imagine any circumstances that would cause the Fedeal Trade Commission to deny the application.
