Did you get a notice about the FTC’s settlement with Lanier Law? You may be eligible for a refund.

The FTC is currently reviewing claims. We will update this page when we have more information.

What was the settlement about?

The FTC sued Lanier Law, its owners, and several related companies, including Surety Law Group, Redstone Law Group, Fortress Law Group, and Liberty & Trust Law Group of Florida. According to the lawsuit, the defendants falsely promised to help homeowners prevent foreclosure, modify home loans, and lower monthly payments and interest rates. They collected fees from homeowners but didn’t provide the help they promised.

As a result of the FTC’s lawsuit, the defendants were banned from the debt relief business, and the owner Michael W. Lanier was disbarred.

What was the deadline to apply for a payment?

The deadline was March 18, 2024. The FTC is no longer accepting claims.

How much will my payment be?

Filing a claim doesn’t guarantee you a payment. Claims will be reviewed and verified. If your claim is approved, your payment amount will depend on several factors, including how many people file a claim.

When will I get my payment?

We plan to send payments in 2024. We will update this page when we have more information.
