Bureau of Competition: Legal Careers
The Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition offers opportunities for attorneys, law students, and paralegals who are passionate about enforcing antitrust law, preserving competitive markets, and protecting American consumers.
The Bureau of Competition is dedicated to preventing anticompetitive mergers and business conduct that can lead to higher prices, reduced service, less innovation, and fewer choices for consumers. Our attorneys, legal interns, and paralegals work with economists and technologists in collaborative teams to investigate unlawful business practices and transactions and, when necessary, bring cases through the Commission's administrative process or in federal court.
The Bureau coordinates a highly selective recruitment program and places attorneys, legal interns, and paralegals interested in competition enforcement in its divisions based on agency need. Please see here for more information on the various divisions.
We offer a collegial and inclusive work environment, early opportunities to take on meaningful, substantive assignments; extensive training on trial skills, negotiations, economic analysis, and more; professional development and mentoring opportunities; and an excellent federal benefits package.
