FTC sends Zelle payments to eligible CafePress users
The FTC is sending Zelle payments to CafePress users who filed a valid claim before the deadline and didn’t cash their check or accept their PayPal payment.
According to the FTC, CafePress failed to use reasonable data security measures and misled users about its data security practices. After a major data breach, the company failed to share important information with CafePress users. Information about the hack could have helped users protect themselves. The settlement required the company to improve its data security programs and to pay money, which the FTC is using to help people who had their Social Security number exposed in the breach.
The FTC first sent checks and PayPal payments in September 2024, which resulted in more than $347,000 in refunds. Now, the FTC is sending Zelle payments to people who didn’t cash their check or accept their PayPal payment.
If you get a Zelle payment, the payment will be deposited directly into your bank account with a note about the settlement. The FTC never asks you to pay money to get a refund.
