Event Description
The Federal Trade Commission and the NAACP of Georgia will host a conference on Obstacles to Economic Opportunity, examining the frauds affecting the African American Community. The conference will bring together legal service attorneys; community leaders; federal, local and state officials; and consumer advocates from around Georgia.
The conference will be held May 19, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church, 201 Washington Street SW, Atlanta, Georgia.
The goal of the conference is to build relationships and explore ways we can better collaborate and share information and resources to best serve the African American community. Over the course of the day, participants will discuss some of the key consumer issues affecting the African American community: credit scams, debt collection, phantom debt, short-term loan scams, income and employment scams, and auto buying.
The conference is free and open to the public. To register, please email your name and affiliation to AtlantaFraudConference@ftc.gov.
