The Tire and Rim Association, Inc., has petitioned the Federal Trade Commission to terminate a 1962 consent order settling charges that the Association engaged in price-fixing. The Association seeks termination pursuant to the Commission's "sunsetting" policy, under which the Commission presumes that the public interest requires terminating competition orders more than 20 years old.

The Association is based in Akron, Ohio.

The orders prohibit the Association from formulating or enforcing resale price agreements, exchanging price information or entering into price-fixing agreements.

The petition will be subject to public comment for 30 days, until Dec. 28, after which the Commission will issue its decision. Comments should be addressed to FTC, Office of the Secretary, 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580.

Copies of the petition to reopen and set aside, and the order itself, are available from the FTC's Public Reference Branch, Room 130, 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580; 202-326-2222; TTY for the hearing impaired 1-866-653-4261.
