Anthony E. DiResta has been named Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Regional Office in Atlanta, Georgia, by FTC Chairman Robert Pitofsky. Since 1984, DiResta has been in private practice and, most recently, is a partner in the Atlanta law firm of Varner, Stephens, Humphries & White. DiResta has written and lectured extensively on antitrust-related and first amendment issues and is an experienced litigator. From 1982-1984, he served as law clerk to the Honorable J. Owen Forrester of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, in Atlanta.
DiResta is a member of the American Law Institute and has held leadership positions in the American Bar Association. He received his Juris Doctor with honors from Florida State University College of Law, where he was a member and Articles and Notes Editor of the Florida State Law Review. He also received an Ed. M. from Harvard University in educational philosophy and a B.A. with academic distinction from Rollins College.
DiResta’s appointment is effective today.
