Federal Trade Commissioner Mary L. Azcuenaga has issued the following separate statement concerning the FTC’s Staff Report on Hearings on Global and Innovation-Based Competition:
“Yesterday, the Commission made public the staff report that follows on the hearings at the Commission last fall on global and innovation-based competition. As stated in the report, it was prepared by the staff and does not necessarily reflect the views of the Commission or any individual commissioner. Commissioner Starek has issued a concurring statement expressing certain concerns about the report, including a concern that it contains views that are not those of the Commission. I write this statement to emphasize the disclaimer in the report and that the views in the report are not necessarily mine.
“The staff generously offered on several occasions to consider my views for possible incorporation in the report, but I preferred to read it after it was final. Now that the report is final, I look forward with interest to reading it.”
