Rosemarie A. Straight has been appointed by Federal Trade Commission Chairman Robert Pitofsky to be the FTC's Executive Director, responsible for the agency's personnel, budget, finance, procurement, information resources, and other administrative functions. Straight was most recently Deputy Executive Director of the FTC, a position in which she had served since 1990, and in which she has coordinated the FTC's central and eastern European technical assistance program.
Straight joined the Commission in 1983 as an Assistant Director of Personnel, and became Deputy Director in 1984 and Director in 1987. Before the FTC, she worked for the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Interior, Labor and Justice.
Straight holds a B.A. from Geonorge Mason University and has done graduate work in public administrative at George Washington University. She is past president of the Federal Section of International Personnel Managmeent Association (IPMA) and now serves as the Federal Level Representative to the IPMA Executive counsel.
She is from Cumberland, Rhode Island, and now resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
