- Publication of Federal Register notice regarding regulatory reviews for calendar year 2000:
The Commission has voted to publish a notice in the Federal Register listing its regulatory reviews scheduled for calendar year 2000. As detailed in the notice, during calendar year 2000 the Commission will seek public comments on its guides for the Household Furniture Industry and the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Specifically, comments will be sought on the economic impact of, and continuing need for, the rule and guides; possible conflict between the rule and guides and state, local, or other federal laws or regulations; and the effect on the rule and guides of any technological, economic, or other industry changes that have occurred since they were last reviewed.

- Applications for approval of transactions:
The FTC has received an application for approval of a transaction from the following: Supervalu, Inc. The Commission is seeking public comments on the application until February 7, 2000. Supervalu Inc. has petitioned the Commission to approve the transfer of its store located at 4081-A East Olive Road, Pensacola, Florida to Apple Market, Inc., 121 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, Florida. Jitney-Jungle originally sold the store to Supervalu to comply with the FTC consent order that resolved concerns about Jitney-Jungle's purchase of stores in various markets in Mississippi and Florida. The order also provided that for a period of three years if Supervalu decides to resell the stores, it must obtain the Commission's approval prior to the sale. - Consent agreements given final approval:
Following a public comment period, the Commission has made final a consent agreement with the following entity: Shell Oil Company. The Commission action makes the consent order binding on the respondent. The Commission vote to finalize the consent agreement was 3-1, with Commissioner Orson Swindle dissenting (and issuing a separate statement) and Commissioner Thomas B. Leary not participating. Chairman Robert Pitofsky, Commissioner Sheila Anthony, and Commissioner Mozelle Thompson also issued a separate joint statement. (FTC File No. 982-3107; staff contacts are C.
