Amended complaint:

The Commission has authorized staff to file an amended complaint in the following matter: Consumer Repair Services, Inc. The complaint was originally filed as part of the FTC's recently announced "Operation Protection Deception" law enforcement sweep against fraudulent credit card protection schemes. The amended complaint adds Manhattan West Marketing, Inc., a Nevada corporation operating in the Central District of California, as a defendant. The Commission vote to amend the complaint was 5-0. Publication of Federal Register notice:

The Commission has approved the publication of a Federal Register notice regarding the following: Request for a New Textile Fiber Name and Definition. As explained in the notice, which will be published shortly, the Commission is requesting public comment on Cargill Dow, LLC's petition to establish a new generic fiber name and definition for its fiber PLA (polylactic acid or polylactide). The company filed its request pursuant to Rule 8 of the FTC's Rules and Regulations Under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act (Textile Rules), 16 C.F.R. Sec. 303.8. The Commission has assigned PLA the temporary designation "CD 0001," and will consider whether to amend Rule 7 of the Textile Rules to include a description of the new fiber and, if so, how to implement the change. Cargill Dow has suggested the name "synterra" for the fiber, which is synthetic but derived from natural resources such as corn.

Comments as to whether the Textile Rules should be amended per Cargill Dow's request will be accepted for 75 days from the date the notice is published in the Federal Register. Comments should be submitted to: Office of the Secretary, Federal Trade Commission, Room 159, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580.
