Federal Trade Commissioner Mozelle W. Thompson will be the Keynote speaker at the two-day International Business Law Services’ Strategic Global Summit for E-Commerce September 18th and 19th 2003. The summit will bring together participants from six countries in the fields of government, law, academia, and e-business to discuss the policies and laws that shape international e-commerce.
“The United States is a leader in working with other industrialized countries to establish ground rules for businesses and consumers in the electronic marketplace,” Commissioner Thompson said. “To be successful, both new and old businesses need to understand these rules and what it takes to be a strong global competitor. Governments are not only there to help consumers, but clear policies and vigorous law enforcement also helps eliminate barriers for legitimate businesses and enables them to compete in a safe and fair environment,” he said.
Summit topics will include taking an e-commerce business offshore, online gambling,
e-mail issues in the workplace, electronic contracts, digital signatures, e-commerce payment systems, domain name issues, and trademarks and copyrights.
The summit will take space at the Marbella Country Club in San Juan Capistrano, California. For more information visit http://www.ibls.com/events. Members of the press interested in covering the event can contact Eric Gazin at 949-756-0906.
