Release of Commission report: The Commission has authorized the staff to release publicly the FTC’s Performance Report for Fiscal Year (FY) 2005. As required by the Reports Consolidation Act of 2000, the Performance Report is included in the FTC’s Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) of Fiscal Year 2005. The FY 2005 PAR is the FTC’s third consolidated report prepared pursuant to the requirements of the Accountability of Tax Dollars Act of FY 2002.

The FY 2005 Performance Report, now consolidated in the PAR, is the seventh performance report published by the FTC as required under the Government Performance Results Act of 1993 (GPRA). The report supplements the Commission’s five-year strategic plan for fiscal years 2003-2008, which was approved in 2003. The agency’s annual GPRA Performance Plans describe the Commission’s strategic goals and objectives and establish annual performance targets. The Performance Report compares and evaluates each year’s actual performance to the established targets set forth in the Performance Plan.

The PAR begins with a “Message from the Chairman” and is presented in three parts: Part I contains introductory and summary information about the FTC performance and financial activities; Part II is the Performance Report; and Part III contains the agency’s financial statements and audit results. The FY 2005 independent financial audit resulted in the FTC’s ninth consecutive unqualified opinion, the highest audit opinion available. The PAR can be viewed at www.ftc.gov/par. The Commission vote to release the Performance Report was 4-0. (FTC File No. P859900; staff contact is James D. Baker, 202-326-3168.)
