A one day “back to basics” workshop on complying with truth-in-advertising laws is being presented on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, by the Federal Trade Commission’s East Central Region and the Cincinnati Better Business Bureau, in cooperation with the Advertising Club of Cincinnati. Green Lights & Red Flags: FTC-BBB Rules of the Road for Advertisers features a roster of national experts discussing the latest developments in advertising law for attorneys, business owners, and marketing executives.

Topics to be examined at the workshop include:

  • Basics of FTC Advertising Law: Understanding the Rules of the Road;
  • Avoiding a Promotion Commotion – Practical advice on complying with the CAN-SPAM Act, the Telemarketing Sales Rule, and FTC law on advertising rebates and “free” offers;
  • The Secure Entrepreneur: Data Security & Consumer Privacy;
  • Complying with State Consumer Protection Laws;
  • Keeping Your Client Compliant – A “dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s” checklist to use before rolling out a new advertising campaign; and
  • When Your Competitor Crosses the Line: Self-Regulation or Litigation?

Green Lights & Red Flags will be held in Conference Rooms 1 and 2 at the Cintas Center, located at 1624 Herald Avenue in Cincinnati and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The admission fee of $115 ($90 for Better Business Bureau members) includes lunch and a CD-ROM of all workshop materials.
