Interagency Task Force on Competition in Electric Energy Markets Requests Public Comments Concerning its Preliminary Report on Competition in the Electric Power Industry

Issuance of preliminary interagency task force report: An interagency task force established under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 today issued a draft report on competition in wholesale and retail electric energy markets and is requesting public comments on the draft. The task force, comprised of representatives from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy, the Department of Justice, the FTC, and the Department of Agriculture, is to deliver its final report to Congress in August 2006.

The notice requesting public comment and providing a draft of the report will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, June 9, 2006. The report also will be available through the Web sites of the participating agencies. The Web site addresses are:
