The Federal Trade Commission is presenting half-day “back to basics” workshops on complying with truth-in-advertising laws, Green Lights & Red Flags: FTC-BBB Rules of the Road for Advertisers & Marketers, on Thursday, December 7, in Cleveland, Ohio, and on Friday, December 8, in Columbus, Ohio. Green Lights & Red Flags features national experts discussing the latest developments in advertising law for attorneys, business owners, and marketing executives.

Topics to be examined at the workshop – it has been approved for continuing legal education credit for attorneys – include Truth in Advertising: Understanding the Rules of the Road; The Secure Entrepreneur: Data Security & Consumer Privacy; Complying with Ohio Consumer Protection Laws; and When Your Competitor Crosses the Line: Self-Regulation or Litigation?

Green Lights & Red Flags in Cleveland is co-sponsored with the Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Cleveland in cooperation with the Cleveland Advertising Association, the Northeast Ohio Direct Marketing Association, Sales & Marketing Executives of Cleveland, the Cleveland Chapter of the American Marketing Association, and the Better Business Bureaus serving Youngstown and Canton. It will be held from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Cuyahoga Community College’s Corporate College East, 4400 Richmond Road in Warrensville Heights. The admission fee of $69 for BBB members and members of sponsoring groups ($109 general admission) includes continental breakfast and a CD of all workshop materials. Attorneys applying for CLE credit and all other attendees are invited to a special legal ethics segment from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The Cleveland event has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 4.50 CLE hours, including one hour of ethics.

Green Lights & Red Flags in Columbus is co-sponsored with the Central Ohio Better Business Bureau in partnership with the Advertising Federation of Columbus. It will be held from 8:30 AM to 2:15 PM at the Columbus Athenaeum, 32 North Fourth Street. The admission fee of $50 for BBB members and members of sponsoring groups ($70 general admission) includes the CD and a networking lunch. Attorneys applying for CLE credit and all other attendees are invited to a special legal ethics segment from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The Columbus event has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 4.75 CLE hours, including one hour of ethics.
