Show Mom You Care About Keeping Her Personal Information Secure

Mom has given out lots of good advice over the years. Return the favor on Mother’s Day, and send her a musical e-card with tips from the Federal Trade Commission on keeping personal information secure. The free card, available in English and Spanish at www.ftc.gov/mom and www.ftc.gov/madre, reminds moms to:

• Safeguard their Social Security number;
• Check their bills and bank statements carefully;
• Exercise doubt and check out offers that come via telephone or e-mail; and
• Report fraud to the FTC.

The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them.
