The Federal Trade Commission has closed its investigation of several agreements between Honeywell International, Inc. and E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co.1 related to the sale of 1234yf, the next generation refrigerant in automotive air conditioning systems. The Commission voted to close the investigation in accordance with a recently announced initiative to close older, pending investigations where appropriate.
“Matters that ultimately do not merit enforcement action can and should be closed promptly,” said Acting Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen. “I am committed to streamlining our investigations and focusing the FTC’s resources on those matters that will do the most good for the public.”
The Commission vote to close the investigation was 2-0. (FTC File No. 1010192; the staff contact is Geoffrey Green, Bureau of Competition, 202-326-2641)
