Acting Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Rebecca Kelly Slaughter announced that she has appointed Marta E. Wosińska as Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Economics.
“In Dr. Wosińska, the FTC gains a top economist with expertise in prescription drug competition and healthcare marketing to lead the Bureau of Economics, and I am pleased to announce she will join the agency later this month,” said Acting Chairwoman Slaughter. “As the nation and the agency shift to recovery and rebuilding, Dr. Wosińska’s innovative approach to pressing policy problems will help advance our work to protect consumers and promote competition and fair play for all.”
Dr. Wosińska joins the agency from the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy at Duke University, where she is a Consulting Professor and serves as the Deputy Director for Policy. Previously, she was Chief Healthcare Economist in the HHS Office of Inspector General after serving as the Director for Economics Staff at the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. Wosińska has been an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Harvard Business School and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Columbia Business School. She has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. from Arizona State University.
The Commission vote approving the appointment of Wosińska was 4-0.
