John D. Graubert Named Deputy General Counsel at the Federal Trade Commission

John D. Graubert has been named Deputy General Counsel of the Federal Trade Commission. Graubert has extensive experience in antitrust and other litigation matters before both administrative agencies and the courts, and has written and lectured on regulatory issues.

Since 1989, Graubert has been a partner with Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he began as an associate in 1982. Specializing in regulatory issues including antitrust, labor, environmental law and transportation, his practice has included administrative proceedings before the Interstate Commerce Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and other federal and state agencies, as well as antitrust and commercial litigation in federal courts across the country. Graubert served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joe M. Ingraham, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Temporary Emergency Court of Appeals. In 1981, Graubert received his J.D. from Georgetown University, where he served as Articles and Notes Editor for the American Criminal Law Review. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Williams College in 1978.

Graubert resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Alexandra Kahn, and their daughter, Christina.
