The Federal Trade Commission today announced the following actions:

Application for approval of proposed divestiture:

The following parties have applied for approval of a proposed divestiture, pursuant to a proposed decision and consent order previously accepted by the Commission for public comment on June 15: Lafarge S.A., (Lafarge) Blue Circle Industries PLC, Blue Circle North America Inc., and Blue Circle Inc. (collectively, Blue Circle). Paragraph II.A. of the consent order requires the parties to divest the "Great Lakes Assets" no later than 180 days after Lafarge consummates its proposed acquisition of Blue Circle. Through this petition, the parties have requested approval of the divestiture of these assets to S.A. Industrias Votorantim.

The Commission is accepting public comments on the proposed divestiture for 30 days, until July 18, 2001, after which it will decide whether to approve the parties' request. Consent agreement given final approval:

Following a public comment period, the Commission has made final a consent agreement regarding the following: Gateway, Inc. The Commission vote to finalize the consent agreement was 4-0, with Chairman Timothy J. Muris not participating. (FTC File No. 992-3276; staff contact is Linda K.
