The Federal Trade Commission will host a press conference on Monday, April 15, at 2:00 p.m. EST to announce federal district court complaints targeting several companies for alleged "in-bound" telemarketing fraud. In-bound telemarketing occurs when consumers call telemarketers in response to classified ads, Internet banners, or other promotions. The event will also feature a victim of one of the alleged frauds, who will be available to answer media questions. According to the federal government, it is estimated that the annual loss from telemarketing fraud exceeds $40 billion, with much of this fraud resulting from in-bound telemarketing.
