The Federal Trade Commission announced that Tara Isa Koslov, who served as Chief of Staff to Chairman Joe Simons from May 2018 through March 2020, has been named Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition.
Koslov had been Acting Deputy Director since March. In addition to serving as Chief of Staff, Koslov previously served as Acting Director of the Office of Policy Planning (OPP), OPP Deputy Director, and as an attorney advisor to three Commissioners. She joined the Commission in 1997 as a staff attorney in the Bureau of Competition, following several years in private practice. Koslov is an honors graduate of Harvard Law School and Brown University.
In her role as Deputy Director, Koslov oversees the Bureau’s Compliance Division, Premerger Notification Office, and Office of Policy and Coordination, as well as the administrative backbone of the Bureau including the Operations and Litigation Support Division, Office of Technology and Information Management, and Honors Paralegal Program. She also handles various enforcement and policy matters in the Bureau, drawing on her extensive agency experience and deep knowledge of antitrust law.
