Event Description
The Federal Trade Commission Microeconomics Conference is held annually in the fall and brings together researchers from universities throughout the world, other government agencies, and other organization to discuss issues related to the FTC’s 100-year long antitrust, consumer protection, and public policy missions in antitrust, consumer protection, and policy. The conference also provides an opportunity for scholars outside the FTC to gain a better understanding of the work the FTC and the economic analysis conducted within the FTC’s Bureau of Economics.
The Scientific Committee for this year’s conference is:

- Leemore Dafny (Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business)
- Liran Einav (Stanford University)

The conference program will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. on Friday, October 17. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.
CONFERENCE INFORMATION
VENUE
The Constitution Center building is located at 400 7th St., SW, near the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station. Non-FTC employees will be required to use the main entrance on 7th St. between D St. and E St. Attendees will check in at the conference desk and then proceed through building security. The conference will be held in the Plaza Level Conference Center.
BACKGROUND
The annual Federal Trade Commission Microeconomics Conference began in 2008 and grew out of the idea that the FTC could benefit from bringing together researchers from universities throughout the world, other government agencies, and other organizations to discuss antitrust, consumer protection, and policy issues that the economists in the FTC’s Bureau of Economics encounter in their work.
