Honors Paralegal Division
The Bureau of Competition’s Honors Paralegal Division is comprised of over 30 paralegals and attracts motivated and dedicated individuals from across the country each year. Honors Paralegals are assigned to both merger and conduct-related investigations within one or more of our enforcement divisions, (see Careers in the Bureau of Competition for more detail) and work alongside staff attorneys and economists day-to-day. Honors Paralegals have the opportunity to work on a case from the initial stages of an investigation through litigation in federal and administrative courts.
The Bureau of Competition considers its Honors Paralegals to be an integral part of a case team’s success. Honors Paralegals perform a wide array of tasks, including research and information management, drafting interview reports and declarations, document management and review, assisting with investigational hearings and deposition preparation, litigation support, and a wide variety of other administrative and substantive tasks. Honors Paralegals are also able to partake in the Bureau-wide Mentoring Program to gain valuable guidance and insight as they map out their future career paths beyond the agency.
The distinguished group of Honors Paralegal alumni have found the opportunity to work within a collaborative environment, at the intersection of law and economics, a rewarding opportunity to learn more about a career in law, economics, and public policy. Honors Paralegal alumni have gone on to attend graduate programs and start careers in public policy, law, and business, among others; some even find themselves back at the agency in full-time permanent positions as attorneys or other members of staff.
