FTC sends refunds to people who paid for investment advice
The FTC is sending payments totaling more than $1.2 million to 19,857 people who paid money to WealthPress, an investment advice company.
The FTC sued WealthPress along with two of its owners, Roger Scott and Conor Lynch. According to the lawsuit, WealthPress sold its investment advice by claiming that clients would make a lot of money. The FTC says that WealthPress didn’t have support for these claims and that many WealthPress clients lost money.
As a result of the lawsuit, the defendants paid over $1.2 million and are banned from making any claims about earnings without having written support to back up those claims.
