FTC.gov and our consumer education websites are vital aspects of the FTC’s service to and communication with the public.

FTC.gov Website Redesign

In 2020, 67 million visitors – about a quarter of the U.S. population -- made 85 million visits to these sites to report fraud, identify scams, learn about enforcement actions such as court cases, and much more.

However, until this week, our websites were almost a decade old. Our data, analysis, and customer feedback told us we needed to simplify our sites to help people perform their tasks more easily. And a variety of statutes and orders, especially President Biden’s recent Executive Order, compel us to continuously improve customer experience and service delivery.

We are pleased to announce a new user experience awaits you at FTC.gov and the new consumer education websites. The main improvements to FTC.gov include:

  • Simpler navigation integrating consumer advice and guidance for businesses
  • Increased focus on consumers’ top tasks, e.g. Report Fraud button appears on every page
  • Creation of a searchable Legal Library for official legal content such as case documents and statements

The new Consumer Advice site also features a new navigation menu reorganized to help visitors find the most relevant content including scams and consumers’ top tasks.

As we transition to these new sites, we ask for your patience.  Please note that our site search will not be available for a few days while the new index is generated. However, the Legal Library’s search should be functional when we launch.

No website is ever finished. We want to hear from you about fixes, tweaks, and any improvements we should make. You can use the Feedback button on each page, the customer survey that you may be invited to take, or just email us at webmaster@ftc.gov
